VailMemberTry this: Why do people of the Jewish faith dislike Muslims? And now: Why is neither one of our statements really entirely true?

Emma B.ParticipantThis is a rather general question. It’s like asking why Christians hate athiests or Protestants hate Catholics. Only a minority of Muslims hate Jews – maybe a vocal minority, but it isn’t exactly a part of the religion. As for why SOME Muslims hate Jews, I couldn’t really say, although I HAVE noticed that most religious hatred is directed from and towards a member of a faith that stems from the story of Abraham – i.e. Christianity, Judaeism, and Islam. Maybe because they’re beliefs have so much in common and revolve around the same people, and yet are still very different, some Muslims feel as though Judaeism is a corruption of the one great truth, which makes them feel a sort of righteous anger that eventually turns into unrighteous hatred. This has been known to happen in all Abraham based religions, and to a lesser extent with ALL religions. I’ve gotten to the ‘righteous anger’ stage before checking myself. If you mean specificly the Muslims in Palistan, it’s because of land issues. They feel as though the Jews stole their land, including the religious site Jerusalem, and it makes them angry, and anger leads to hate.

Mark22063ParticipantThe core reason is the accusation of propagating heresy which is seen by giving people political and personal freedom. In order to make a better case against the freedom of the individual, Islamists connect it to a Jewish conspiracy. In his Letter to the American people bin Laden continued: ‘The Jews have taken control of your economy, through which they have then taken control of your media, and they now control all aspects of your life – making you their servants and achieving their aims at your expense.’ The means of this allegedly Jewish control and infiltration are, according to bin Laden’s letter, ‘the immoral acts of fornication, homosexuality, intoxicants, gambling, and trading with interest.’ This may sound like madness to most of us. For Islamists, however, it is precisely this mission of purification and salvation which provides the eliminatory ingredient of Islamistic antisemitism. The hatred of Jews as a hatred against the challenges of modern life is the underlying reason why innocent people were killed on 9/11 – Islamists consider New York City to be the center of World Jewry.

ib21360ParticipantMuslims don’t hate Jewish people at all, its a very common misconception. Muslims are told that they should respect each and every religion as it is their duty in Islam to do so. In the Quran, it says that Jewish people went astray, just like it does in the Bible, but it doesn’t say anywhere that Muslims should have any right to hate Jewish people. In fact, Jews are called the ‘people of the book’, along with Christians. The only reason Muslims may dislike Jewish people is probably because they feel strongly about how they went astray as said in the Quran, but under Islam, they shouldn’t feel that way because its backbiting, and it’s also intolerance. Hope that answers your question 🙂

Jason31233ParticipantThere are many reasons that people of Jewish faith and people of Muslim faith have problems, however one of the most basic and simple is geography. When you have to faiths with such strong beliefs (especially beliefs that are so different but at root from the same place) centered in one area you will have problems, its part of human nature. Both the jews and muslims believe thier beliefs are right and anyone believing differtently is simply wrong. Try living next door to someone of a different faith than yourself and constantly tell them they are wrong, eventually there will be problems

DaveParticipantThis statement is a fallacy. Although many Muslims do hate Jews, they are often ignorantly conflate Jews with Zionism and on the other end many Jews confalte a Muslim’s scorn for Zionism with hatred of Jews. Moreover, there are verses in the Qur’an that show certain populations of Arabian Jews from the 7th century (CE) to have been deceitful vis-a-vis the role of the Prophet Muhammad. Thus, it is easy for poor and simple minded folk to reify that disservice with modern-day Zionism and Israeli policies towards Muslims in Palestine and towards the city of Jerusalem which at the very beginning of Islam was the city that one turned to pray toward.

RanyMemberYour question is hard to answer because the question is either silly or poorly phrased! Not every person of the Muslim faith dislikes every person of the Jewish faith. It is like asking why do all Jews eat bagels? Try asking something like why does there seem to be such a history of anatagonism between people the two faiths? I am not jewish or muslim but I knwo alot of people of both faiths who could care less, hate each, or are great friends. Then again I know alot of people who can stand any of the semitic peoples and yes Arabs are semitic too. People just dont like other people and religion is usually a really good reason to hate.

AaParticipantShalom, Muslims don’t dislike Jews in general, in fact we are very closely linked & have a category which affords the Jews & Christians special status as ‘People of The Scriptures’. A brief glance into history will affirm this position. It was the Ottoman Empire which invited the Sephardic Jews into it’s state when they were driven out by the Spanish in 1492. Even Salahuddin had an esteemed Jewish physician in his court, the famous Maimonides (famous for the medical oath attributed to him & also for his works on Judaism). We do however have an issue with Zionism & Israel & the continued oppression & annihilation of the Palestinans- off all faiths & the relentless expropriation of their land. It is indeed unfortunate some who claim to be Jews, namely the Ashkenazim- who incidentally are not Bani Israel, or descendants of Jacob, rather they are the descendants of the Khazar/Kazan Empire of Central Asia & the Caucasus who converted to Judaism to stem the onslaught of Christian Byzantium & the Muslim East- act in such a way as to associate Judaism with colonialist expanisionism of the most brutal sort. This is the basis for the current animosity towards the Israelis/Askhenazis. As far as I am aware there is manifestly more hatred for Muslims amongst Jews than vice-versa. The monoply of the Jewish media & business interests, not only in the US but all over the Globe, and the ramblings of the political fraternity vis-a-vis Israeli/Askhenazi intransigence & contempt for humanity only serves to further alienate the common folk of the two great faiths. The vast majority of Muslim leaders try to deflect attention from their own despotic regimes by deliberatly inflaming emotions for the Palestinians, without acting with any substance. It is rather akin to the situation in the US with the incumbent government & the demonisation of Islam breeding hatred for Muslims

Raymond IrizarryMemberThat simply isn’t true of all Muslims. There are plenty of interfaith services and contacts in the United States. What may be prompting your question is the undeniable fact that most Muslims in the Middle east are mad as hell that a Jewish state was set up by the United Nations on what they see as land that should only be governed by Muslims. They blame Jews, not the U.N. Some carry their anger over to all Jews. That’s what hits the public perception

AnnieParticipantI don’t think Muslims dislike Jews any more or less that Jews dislike Muslims. In both the Torah and the Quran, you can find passages that seem to support oppression or violence against non-Jews and non-Muslims, respectively, and those are of course used to preach hate by some. Also, a lot of Muslims are really angered by the situation in Israel and the Middle East. When you feel that your people and religion are consistently treated wrongly, especially in a place where there has been ethnic and political tension and violence for so long, and nothing ever seems to get better, then you start looking, rightly or wrongly, for someone to blame. Israel is part of that equation, and being a state of mostly Jews, you get tension between Muslims and Jews.

John29197ParticipantOne reason muslims dislike Jews is becasue they are attached to their belifs in God which differs from the Jewish belief in God. They feel threatened by anyone who does not believe in the same God as they believe. It is a lack of tolerance for any other belief than their own. Jews and Catholics and other religions are perceived as contridicting the Koran which is a source of contempt.

EugeneParticipantMuslims hate Jews because the Koran teaches them to. The conflict in the Middle East just helps them to reinforce the stereotypes they hold about Jews. Even if the state of Israel were to cease to exist tomorrow, Muslims would hate Jews forever.
