I’m black and have been smacked in the face too many times to count by people swinging their hair. Not just whites. I think hair should be kept in place, especially if it hinders anyone else. Also, I dont think anyone has to envy hair (If they do they’re stupid!) Thirdly I hardly think that a fast food restaurant is any place for anyone to be playing with their hair.

I’ll tell you who: People with deep-seated racial problems. Instead of just seeing a couple, they see a black and white couple. As a black woman, if I see an Asian and white couple, I don’t get upset, but sometimes people have resentment and feel that any type of consortment with the ‘enemy’ is disrespectful to them and their race. Imagine living in the South after the Civil War and seeing a Yankee girl and a Confederate man together. Even 3-5 yrs after the war, people would not like it. So in a day when racism still exists, to some people, interracial dating feels like treason.

Also, when you don’t have resources, you won’t learn things. If I don’t have an iron and have never been around one my whole life, will I know how to iron? No. So if you don’t live by a pool and you know that you can drown in water if you can’t swim, then what will be your reaction to large bodies of water? That’s right, fear. And that’s for all races.

Those women also have choices and can choose to live in ‘imprisonment’ – if not, then they can leave. Most choose to stay. If that was how you were raised, then you wouldnt think that any other way was any better unless someone told you.
