anonymous23721MemberI’m multicultural & I’m sorry, but I have to agree with both Gina and Stacia. A woman from any background can be loud & defensive, but I have noticed that it is usually black women who exhibit these tendencies. Not ALL, no, but MOST. The reason? Well, perhaps they choose to behave this way. Personally I think it’s uncalled for, but people have a right to be who they are. To Gail: why so defensive? I don’t see anything remotely offensive in what Gina said. I believe it was an innocent question that maybe was taken the wrong way. And as a teacher, she probably wanted to know the answer so she could relate better to some of her female African-American students & understand them better. To Gina: Maybe you could try asking them to quiet down a little next time. Sometimes this behavior can actually be helpful in the classroom when debating issues, but if the noise & attitude is really bothering you, you could try telling them firmly (but nicely) to tone it down.
