Gina, I applaud your taking the initiate to ask this question, even though i only saw one objective reply posted; the rest were totally defensive. I work in a military enviroment thats comprised of a very diverse group and can tell you that loud and/or defensive behavior is by no means isolated to any one group. You’re talking about a learned behavior that could attributed to any number of things, enviroment, peer pressure, home setting, you name it. ‘Y’ is here for the express purpose of asking questions about other cultures that we may not understand. Your question tells me that you desire to better understand your students and that is commendable. The answers you see posted are from people who are excerising their rights under the 1st admendment to express their opinons. And wheter they like it or not, you have that same right.
