Wolf ShadowMemberI have a few friends that are gay, and they seem to appreciate the fact that I have an honest interest. But these people are very secure in who they are. If you don’t get that feeling from your friend, I wouldn’t “cold question” her about it. If it really becomes too awkward, I’d get her in a group, maybe have her invite a few people, then it might come out in the normal conversation. Finally, I can’t stress the word “honest” enough. If you have a question, ask. If it’s an honest question, it’ll come from the heart, instead of from a nervous stomach.

Wolf ShadowMemberIn my experience, I’ve found that if you find an idea that is common ground (abortion, gun control, etc.) fighting for the same goal, it becomes necessary to discuss cultural differences within the group to succeed with their final goal.
