Of course white people are discriminated agains. But at the same time, they are still at an advantage. Being born black, you are already two steps behind. You have to try extra hard and work harder than white people just so you can be equal. Plus, you have to deal with negative stereotypes that come along with it. It's really hard, Matthew.

Where do your frineds live? I have never had a man hit me (of any race). Maybe it's not the men but your frineds who have a problem (not to be rude). As a woman you have to stand strong and give off the vibes that you are not a punching bag. That really sucks. As a black 22-year old female, I don't like walking by groups of black guys (or any other race) for fear of being harrassed. But in one-on-one contact, I give anyone a chance because I don't want to stereotype anyone by their attire. That's the same thing as someone saying that I'm slutty because I dress a little sexy to go to a club.

It's weird that you ask that. I was just about to ask the same thing, but the other way around. It seems like when I go to grab some fast food with my male friends, they always pull off before the person reads them the total; then they sit at the window without pulling out their money. By the way, in the store, I always swipe my ATM card as soon as the cashier begins to ring me up. It's faster that way!

I guess it's just the way the world goes. Now imagine if the problems still existed when you were in your work clothes. Wouldn't that suck! We can't just pull off our skin as easy as clothing. It's like I can't even go get a bottle of water without all eyes being on me (and I don't dress "hood" at all). Sometime I just feel like saying: 'I can use my trust fund to buy 20 of these stores. I don't have to attempt to steal.' It really, really sucks!

You can never judge a book by its cover. The way people appear and the way people are can shock the hell out of you. As far as being uncivilized; on what basis? Maybe it's the part of town in which you associate. I t could even be the part of the country. I have a large amount of Black friend and we are not loud, aggressive, nor vulgar. We are all well educated and sophisticated by most standards (I don't know what your standards may be). I also believe that I'm civilized; but then again, In what does civilization consist? PS Bandanas are something that Blacks had to wear in slavery days and post Civil War. When Black women went into town they had to wear them so that everyone would know that they were Black (because some Blacks were fair skinned). It was law in the South. So it's something that just stuck. If check out any old movies you will see that all the Black people in them (maids and servants) have kon bandanas. It kinda got adapted into part of the culture.
