Danielle, perhaps I was not clear enough. I couldn't care less about the subject of past discrimination. I was a freedom rider when I was very young, and I had black friends in grade school. The idea of black or not is of no interest. 'Tell me who you are?' is the famous Buddhist question. Is the persona black? Do I really need to hear about wrongs real, imagined and borrowed? It kills a conversation to hear such baseless things as 'Blacks died out of proportion in Vietnam.' It is simply not true. Most of the time these stories are just that: stories. Why are these things injected into the conversation?

You must understand that people who are always a victim are refusing to take responsibility for themselves. It is easier to be a victim than actually try to accomplish great things. How many times have you heard '...a plot by the man to keep me down..' Ignoring the fact that decisions the speaker made are the true reason for failure.

I love warm, attractive women. I have dated women of all races, and they are more alike than diverse. Dating black women comes with its own set of troubles. Black men who accept mixed couples only as long as the man is black are really trouble. I have had black men berate a date while dismissing my presence. If I loved a woman who satisfied my soul, hell would not keep me away, but mixed couples have a tough way to go.
