Teresa C.ParticipantTeens can rarely see beyond the here and now or aim for anything higher. Except me or you, that is.

Teresa C.ParticipantI wouldn’t jump at the chance to be with an Asian male, perhaps because of the Model-Minority Myth: That Asian males are hard-working, system-following individuals who bow their heads and move on when they’re wronged, vs. standing for something and having strong convictions. I know that’s such an unfair generalizaton, but it’s enough for me. To me, they don’t seem to embody strength.

Teresa C.ParticipantAlso, when one feels the need to force one’s religion down another’s throat, it signifies that one doesn’t have faith in one’s own God – it shows that whoever is doing the forcing doesn’t believe his/her own God has the power to save. Forcing is completely different from sharing, however, and the latter is done with a welcome recipient.

Teresa C.ParticipantAnd it bothers me because the reason for the Model Minority Myth seems to be that the majority saw Asians as meek yes-men. That bothers me a lot. In America, Asians have done nothing near the March on Washington, but seem to have taken every wrong lying down as far as communities and individuals are concerned. I don’t know the reason for this, as I know Asians aren’t cowards-take Tiananman Square, for example.
