I have heard that Finns are very closed to their emotions. For example, I have heard that if I go to Finland, I should not look people in the eye or say 'hello' when I'm on the street. Talking loud or joking on a subway or bus is also frowned upon, I hear. I also understand that some Finns only say 'I love you' to their spouses on their deathbeds. I guess Finland also has the highest rates of depression and suicide in the world.

Because of the small population being spread out, I understand that isolated farmers (and other men) and potential wives get together at monthly dances/socials to find partners. This comes from TV documentaries I've seen and articles I have read. On the upside, you have reindeer.
