If it's coming from an individual, I usually don't care, unless it's something I know is wrong or stupid, like someone saying it was a 'miracle' that they didn't get hit by the falling safe that clobbered the person in front of them. I, however, get angry when someone uses the government or other sources of authority to cram God and religion down my throat. In Utah, for example, the schools are required to display banners with "In God We Trust" on them, and they require that all students stand and recite the pledge. The principal at my school also told the school that if anyone left, that they would be marked absent for the day, then forced us to sit through a Thanksgiving prayer.

You have to be very careful, because the very same argument can be made against Jesus and Christianity. Jesus claims to be equal to God, and was a very charismatic fellow. He took many followers away from Gods laws, and used tricks and pressure tactics (water into wine, bread and fish, interfering with temple workers). One could say that Satan milked Jesus as much as he could, then went on making up modifications to gain more followers by using Martin Luther to create strife and gain people who were apprehensive to the Catholic Church.

Pork is 'Unclean' according to Jewish and Muslim religions.

No, I do not think this is true, Atheists have many different reasons for being Atheists. I just didn't understand that you were supposed to believe in Jesus. I thought of Jesus as more of a metaphor, and I realized around 9-10 that it was a lie, just like Santa Clause had been.

Black and Latino Atheists are rare, I believe, because of the close knit communities they often live in. In the community, the dominant religion is strongly followed and potential atheists are dissuaded from turning away from the church by peer pressure. As for Asian Atheists, some forms of Buddhism are atheist in basis.

If you mean 'civil contract' as in 'Marriage Licence', I would suspect that he means that it gives the woman more rights, such as divorce, inheritance, alimony, etc, that are not present in the traditional contracts in predominantly Muslim countries.

I only feel alienated when people try to say that Christmas is only for Christians. Christmas is a holiday that has been assimilated from many different cultures, with Christianity being the most recent. In the United States, 300 years ago the Puritans were doing all they could to stomp out any merrymaking in their communities. Only in the past ~120 years has Christmas been accepted here, and only because the upper class businessmen realised that they could exploit the holiday by changing the practices involved in it and by making employees take only a day or so off to celebrate.

*l* There are no laws in the United States regarding criticism of Israel or Jews. The closest are anti-discrimination laws, which apply equally to Jews, Muslims, Christians, Atheists, and any other religious/ethnic/racial/etc group.
