Netta20206MemberI am an African American who moved to the South (Florida) from up North (Ohio), and my move had nothing to do with historical happenings. Times change, people change. If you want to know the truth, it’s a lot nicer here. There is still racism, but I have found very few situations of it. I am a hairdresser and work in an all-white salon. No one has ever doubted my skills, nor were they skeptical because of my skin color. Another good reason we move to the south is that it is much warmer. Black people don’t like the cold and snow. There are also a lot of military moves in the South. It’s one of the first places they send you. I hope this helps you understand. Nowadays, no one researches the places they want to live (at least not historically). They move mostly for the economic opportunities, the weather or just to have the experience.
