I learned about the biological part of sex (i.e. fertilization, etc.) through school and sex education classes. However I learned about the other part of sex (i.e. how to do it, positions, etc.) through the media – magazines, internet and television – and through a few friends. I learned nothing from my parents, as we never talked about the subject (thank God!).

I haven’t heard of Hindu or Muslim missionaries, but I know that one cannot convert to Hinduism. It is believed that you are either born a Hindu or you are not. I think you can adopt Hindu beliefs but you cannot become a proper Hindu. So I strongly doubt there are any Hindu missionaries but have no idea about Muslim missionaries.

I don’t know how we live together in a society with so many religious and cultural diferences, but thank God we manage it (for the most part). Maybe we can live together because we are more tolerant of each other than in the past, and we all have a better understanding of the different cultures and religions than our elders. Whatever the reason, I’m just happy I can live happily and safely in a multicultural city and society. So don’t question it – just be happy for it (IF you live in a safe, multicultural area).

Hinduism is an ancient religion (about 3 or 4000 yrs old!) Therefore it is quite complex. The religion today is quite different than how it was in the past (for example the main gods worshipped before (e.g Indra) are not worshipped as much now (like e.g. Shiva)) In the religion there are various groups which may hold a certain belief or worship one particular god e.g. Vaishnavites worshipping Vishnu, BUT they will also hold the other primary beliefs of Hinduism. So, there are not denominations in the religion as in Christianity however there are sects which may be slightly different to the ‘mainstream’ Hinduism. (I apologise if the above makes no sense! Afterall I AM a 16 year old, with poor English language skills and am not incredibly religious – I only know about Hinduism through school and individual studying)
