I learned from female friends in high school, women's magazines, the big romantic paperbacks that you see women reading, women's talk shows, teen magazines, and biology and health classes. I am guessing most teenagers today head to their favorite search engine. And by the way, all men should read a few good women's romantic novels. I and all of my female friends agree on this point.

I would say that young people mostly pick things up from pictures/media, but many junior high schools offer sex ed as a part of their health/physical education curriculum.

I learned about the biological part of sex (i.e. fertilization, etc.) through school and sex education classes. However I learned about the other part of sex (i.e. how to do it, positions, etc.) through the media - magazines, internet and television - and through a few friends. I learned nothing from my parents, as we never talked about the subject (thank God!).

I agree, IF a guy is interested in knowing what makes his girlfriend/wife tick. However, some guys don't care and would prefer to just not know. So do you have a 'recommended reading' list that you'd share? I haven't gone as far as buying a cheesy romance novel, but in my quest to 'figure women out,' I acquired a book that is a collection of erotic short stories written by women. They have all been quite interesting, some very exciting, some a little disturbing. But I think women are so diverse in their sexuality that the most important thing is to find out from your partner what she particularly likes/dislikes.

I learned mostly from my peers. I remember being in 3rd grade at lunch and all the kids were talking about sex. I remember I also looked it up in the dictionary. LOL! Of course, that didn't say much! I know that I didn't know what a penis looked like until I was in 2nd or 3rd grade and I saw the instructions from a package of condoms. I remember being shocked and in disbelief. LOL!

I learned about the fertilization/ possible outcomes of sex from school. I learned about other parts (positions, kinds, etc) from Teen magazines, friends, and only a bit from the media. I learned none of this from my parents, who never talked to me about sex.

Well before the junior high sex-ed classes, I learned about the mechanics because I was interested in horses. Got a horse health book for my birthday, read it, got to the chapter on breeding, and WHOA did I learn a lot! Also, unlike most of my peers, I had a friendly relationship with my parents, and my mother and I talked a lot when I was a teenager... yes, even about sex. Not the specifics, but things like, 'Make sure you try some things other than the missionary position or you'll end up with issues when you're 50' and 'Ignore the 'no sex before marriage' stuff they tell you. I did, and I'm fine. Just make sure it's with someone you love.... and are engaged to!'
