It's not about chicken being 'soul food' or ethnic food. If they had placed some sort of African cuisine food on sale that might have been a different story. but, as leonard Pitts pointed out, fried chicken has long been a kind of food used to DERIDE black people. That is why it is offensive. This comes from the slave days when cheap food was used to feed black slaves - chicken wings, watermelon, etc. It is not like pasta for the Italians or paella for the Spaniards. Whether or not black people or anyone likes fried chicken is not the issue.

I don't know if you would consider my condition a 'disability'. I am on hemodialysis and have to be hooked up to a machine for 4 1/2 hours three times a week. Often I am too weak right after treatment to stay awake. Sometimes I can barely walk. Other times I am just fine and as normal as someone without any health issues. I know it has been difficult for my wife since I cannot work. She has also had to spend time helping me and being with me while I spent days and weeks in the hospital. yes, it is difficult and it take a very special partner to put up with someone who has disabilities.

Pain is definitely a part of pleasure. You don't have to be into kinky sex to know that. Anyone into spiucy foods is into pain as pleasure.

I used to be a stand-up comedian and the general rule to be funny is that you don't make fun of fat people, black people, women or poor people unless you are fat, black, a woman or poor. It is just a question of what is funny. There was a cartoonist named Callahan who regularly made fun of the handicapped. He believed it didn't matter who you are - a joke is a joke. But, then again, Callahan was a quadriplegic.

I am a light-skinned Cuban of Spanish heritage. As far as I can tell, I am white, of European descent. Whether one is white or Hispanic is mixing two categopries. White refers to skin color and Hispanic to ethnicity. If my parents were from Ireland and moved to Spain where I was born what would I be? Even this very forum does not recognize that one can be both Hispanic and white - or hispanic and black or even Hispanic and Asian or Jewish.

As to 'go back to where you came from', I recall in the late 70's there was an Indian comedian who would appear on the Tonight Show who would come on and point at the audience and sing, 'One little two little three little whiteys.', then ask 'Does that piss you off too?' Later he would relate a story of how he was performing in Texas (yes, I know that's a stereotype too) and some guy in the audience yelled, 'Hey, why don't you go back to where you came from.' Then the comic would say, 'So, I camped out in his back yard.'
