MaggieParticipantI always wear underwear outside the house, and sex naked is best, as a previous person said, as you can appreciate all the body.

MaggieParticipantI’m not married, but live with my partner. We have a joint account, and we each have our own separate accounts (which we only use for our wages and work-related expenses), and also both joint and individual long-term (i.e. retirement) saving accounts and investments. The vast majority of our expenses and savings are joint. As we’re still pretty young, most of our purchases are for joint things (furniture, etc.) but these are decided on jointly. Smaller purchases are made without asking. I think each couple has to know how it works best for them, but what I find really strange is when long-term couples go out for drinks or a meal and each pay for their own drinks and food. This seems really petty.

MaggieParticipantIn Germany the normal way to answer the phone is to give your surname, sometimes the phone number and the company name if appropriate. Equally when calling (even if it is just directory assistance) the surname is given. Often it is said so quickly that you can’t understand it, but it is always said. Germans find it very strange that phones in the UK are answered with ‘hello?’

MaggieParticipantI think you were right to react, as as long as people use a term negatively or are abusive about people who are perceived to be different and nobody says anything they will carry on being abusive. A similar thing happened to me recently where twice in the same day some men (and it is mostly men, in my experience)were speculating on a third person’s sexuality ‘he’s bent as …’ – I just said ‘so?’ and they shut up.
