I beg to differ. The word ‘mulatto’ literally translates as ‘little mule’, and was based on the belief that blacks were an altogether separate species from whites; just as a horse is a diferent animal than a donkey, and their offspring is a mule. It is more than just politically incorrect, it is a racial epithet. Biracial or multiracial are both far more appropriate terms.
