I was once on a message board where someone alleged that the muslim world was silent on the subject of 9/11. I knew that was wrong, but he wasn’t going to take my word for it. So, I went online to find some cites and was stunned at all the things I found. There were many more outspoken, strongly-worded, muslim-faith-based condemnations of terrorism and violence and fanatism than I had ever seen or been made made aware of. At least some of them got wide media coverage during that critical time, but far from all! These days, I don’t think major media outlets are making this sort of thing a priority. Muslim leaders and organizations could be saying a lot of great things that we’d never know about without attending their mosques and their community events.
