I think you have two courses of action. You could accept the Bible as God’s word, in which case everything in it is God’s will and therefore possible. Or, take it a collection of Creationist myths cobbled together over centuries and reinterpreted by whatever group was in power to justify their own ends. Once you make your choice between these two opinions, it will save you many sleepless nights.

I think people have a natural curiosity about sex. This is for most people an unexplored area. In all things that are not understood, the two reactions that people have are fear and curiosity. People seek both to understand and denigrate in roughly equal measure, hence the leering and intrusive questions.
