    I am an MD, just to give a certain amount of authority in terms of anatomy. I will take the liberty of posting a few other replies rather than just a yes or no. There is no difference in the ribs of the races. The functions of the ribs are manifold. First they must offer a support for the diaphragm and the accessory muscles of respiration. In addition to this supportive function, they have a physiologic function as a "spring trying to open outwards". This is balanced by the lungs and muscles which try to collapse inward. Any change in the flattened profile, ie rounding, of the ribs would make breathing an almost insurmountable chore.     The author of Darwin Black Box is Michael Behe. He is one of the "scientists" associated with the Discovery Institute, a Pro Creation organization. They are responsible for all of the "refutations" to evolution in the literature. The idea promoted by this book is in fact an old one claiming that evolution sans an intelligent designer is impossible due to irreducible complexity. Michael Behe was effectively dealt with in the Dover Trials wherein his examples were shown to be invalid. (As well as the entire creationist contingent getting balled out by the judge) Just to clarify, I am an MD and obviously ascribe to evolution. I have no issue with religions be it extreme or minimalist. My issues revolve around the ridiculous attempts by creationists, or any other baseless claims, to
