Some people say they feel threatened by same-sex marriages because they think God wants them to make sure gays and lesbians never get equal marriage rights. In reality, they aren’t stupid enough to really believe the gays are threatening their own marriages; they’re just using the “threat to traditional marriage” act to scare people into voting for anti-gay politicians.

Most gay people choose their friends and loved ones from among enlightened people who love and accept them for who they are. These tend to be more intelligent, creative and successful people, so being gay is really very socially rewarding. On the other hand, there are other people who judge gays, yell and scream at us, or try to pass laws against us. I don’t think those people will ever “accept” us, but I don’t really care. I don’t know anybody like that personally.
