GlennMemberI disagree. ‘Race’ and ‘ethnicity’ are NOT just a ‘cultural construct’. ‘Race’ is a definition of certain charactoristics which define a group of humans. We ARE all from of the same DNA code sequence… so yes, we are all basically the same… we are all HUMAN… but there are races of human just as there are races of Dog or races of Cat. They can all interbreed, they are in essance the same, but each ‘ethnic group’ has it’s own distinctive traits which have developed over the centurys. I don’t know that ‘race’ could be determined by DNA testing, but there are obvious physical distinctions between races.

GlennMemberPhysical and genetic differences are not based on environment (climate, Latitude, etc). It is based on the genetic makup of people groups. The original members of various ethinic groups had certain charactoristics (latent and domanent genes in various catagories) which were emphasized because of the isolation of these groups from one another. Mountains, lakes, valleys and many miles separated these groups which didn’t interact with each other, and over time the dominant genes in the society made each group distinctive from one another.
