    That's the same as asking why adults wear suits to work. Because they are expressing an image. Teenagers wear what is in style, whether it is wearing baggy pants or drinking a certain type of drink. Why did people wear afros or bell-bottoms? Because it was in style.

    Part of the reason is that hip-hop has a major influence over the style of dress and even the way teenagers speak. It is something new to this generation; they are people who can identify with our environment and can understand who we are. And, teenagers and most adults are very influenced by their peers. What others think matters to them, so if they aren't wearing Fubu or the new Jordans, they feel bad. When they grow to the stage where what others think does not matter to them, then they will really begin to express their own individuality.
