Most women have too much pride to be on TV when they're fat and wrinkled, while men have no such qualms. Or, their contract is not renewed, and the boss seeks eye appeal - as in the lyric 'The bubble-headed bleach blonde comes on at five, she can talk about the plane crash with a gleam in her eye,' From Don Henley's song 'Dirty Laundry'.

My grandmother was German, somewhat cold and distant. As a kid I knew she was almost blind but like to sew so I gave her a needle threader. Well, she got angry, gave it back, did not explain. Her English was not that good so I chalked it up to the age/language barrier and her having very little money. Perhaps she thought I was making her liable to buy a gift for me, had no money to spare, and certainly not for ALL the grandchildren. She had raised 8 girls and a boy on a small farm. I still wonder how she did it!

Don't know about your parents, but mine consider that older guy as trying to score with an inexperienced young lady he knows is under age for him. As you are below the age of consent at 16, any sex is seen by the world-at-large as statutory (by laws) rape. This does not seem to discourage certain Latino rappers presently 'up on charges' for dating girls as young as 13 and having 'close encounters of the 4th Kind'. My advice to you: wait until you are 18 unless a brother or sister or parent is along.

Younger men have heard via Bill Clinton that older women ,'are HOT'. Thus some feel that older women may have something to prove and be a bit more liberal sexually.

in reply to: Soft drink cans and ironing everything: why? #47239

The covering of the drink bottle/can used to be standard. As a small boy I recall the carhop bringing small glass (pop)bottles of Dr.Pepper on a tray with each bottle wrapped in a napkin. She hung the tray rig on the car. This was the 1950s. There was no permanent press, so women (sometimes men who had no ironing money to pay) ironed all their clothes. Some even ironed underwear and bed sheets. It was considered unladylike or ungentlemanly to be seen looking as if 'you just got up out of bed'. Baggy clothes were not 'cool'. Tailoring was 'in'.
