I’ve been where you are. Black women in general were not interested in me (back when I was a young man). And I am a handsome smart guy. I am 6’3′, very athletic and muscular. White women and Asian women were always approaching me and very aggresively might I add. I turned them away for years, even hurting some feelings along the way (which I did not like, some of the ladies were very sweet). At about the age of 23, I opened up and started dating women that were interested in me regardless of race. I lived with a chinese women for sometime and have many fond memories of that time. I’ve also dated whites, and latins. To me a woman is a woman. I do not look at race. I don’t even believe in the concept of it. I’ve met people that are supposed to be of one race and they look like another. I’ve given up on the concept.

Yuna, whom posted in from NY, is well off base. I’ve been a black male for 38 years. I know that almost all black men like heavier women. Skinny white women do not get very far with black men. Hips are a must. Outright fat is not often considered attractive, amongst black men. There are exceptions. A tall thin black woman may get a lot of play from black men. By tall I mean 5’10 to 6′. Maybe it is the long thin legs. But I do know they are looked upon as attractive. Short skinny black women are not often seen as attractive to black men. I will admit that a lot of black people are concerned about color. Blacks that are darker than even brown, have a harder time finding mates. Black people are not crazy, it is a fact that the darker you are the more discrimination you will face in this country. I certainly do not think it is right. But that is the way the ball bounces.

You’re right. I thought it was odd when Spike Lee game out with the movie ‘Jungle Fever’. I featured a black man having an affair with an italian woman. Everyone in her NY community was upset. I’ve been around italians all my life. They are some of the best people when it comes to interractions with black people. Peoples from these two cultures date routinely. Why didn’t Spike use an Irish lady in the role? When I first moved to this town, the only guy who befriended me is an Italian guy. He has since moved back to New York. If we would go out and meet people of other backgrounds, instead of believing everything the media and the government tells us about each other our country would be even stronger.

I believe white folks thought of the title originally and black folks ran with it. I could be wrong, but white folks are always looking to call us something other than just human. Whenever someone refers to me as African American I feel degraded. For 400 years some of my ancestors were enslaved in this country. Africans did nothing but contribute to our follie. What culture we built here we built on our own, despite Africans. Many whites helped to build our culture here. Many whites died so that my ancestors could be free from bondage. Almost all blacks in this country have white and native american ancestry. I realize that a majority of whites hate blacks and think that blacks are inferior because we are not pure. I am hip to it. But the Africans, well they have a worse game plan let me tell ya. you want to choose a side? I choose America a country in which my ancestors help to build. Scratch the Africa part. If you want to call me something, in order to weed me out? Call me Black. I am a Black man and proud to be an American.

Of course racism will eventually go away. It is not rooted in our human nature. As the world gets smaller, and our knowlege of people grows, racism will die out. A lot of it is already dying out with the old. People need to stopping copping out in life and blaming bad inclinations on human nature. ‘Oh, I was born this way’. What a crock! Take some personal responsibility. We come into the world as infants unblimished. Those of you that are religious will recognize the even the bible says this. We have choices to make in life. Some choices are wrong and some are right. Usually wrong choices are made because they satisfy some selfish desire, like power through birthright or pleasure through taking from others or alternative ways of expressing sexuality. It is true that we are not perfect, but we cannot give up and let evil win.

Racist would like to believe that black men are cowards and are abusive toward women. Racist want people to believe that black men want to dominate white women. This is something they’ve singled out for the black man. It’s not true. Black men in general are secure in who they are. Most of us view people as people. And are not afraid to date any kind of woman. As long as she expresses a genuine interest in us as a person. Imagine being a black man. The media constantly portraying you as a villian but you havn’t robbed, sold drugs or shot anyone. But people around the world are soaking up this evil black man idea thrown out there by the media. Even black women begin to think you are a tired lazy blankety blank. Any woman that approaches you and expresses interest, you will admire for personal strength. Because this is a woman that has weeded through all the crap and has discovered you the person. Concerning submissive women. Please! Who is submissive in the western world. People who are considered white are from many different backgrounds. Some of these backgrounds are very harsh, even compared to a background such as slavery in the americas. Eastern Europeans have a background of slavery as well. Germanic women fought with swords alongside their husbands. And we all know latin women don’t play, they’ll cut ya (just a little humor from the black community). not all latin women will cut ya. The woman in todays world will not take much off of a man, any man. Even if he has got the mythological 12 incher.
