In Islam, alcohol is forbidden because it affects your brain and therefore prevents you from focusing on your daily activities. But there’s no problem whatsoever for Muslims to take medications against depression and anxiety, as long as you don’t reach the point where you get addicted. However, all sorts of drugs, such as heroin, are forbidden for the same reason as alcohol.
