Asia D.ParticipantI agree. If a child can walk and hold a conversation then there is no reason for that child to not be potty trained. Plus by 2 and 3 that child is pretty much eating the same food you are so changing diapers becomes more unpleasent.

Asia D.ParticipantI’ve seen women of many different cultures do this, especially if they’re trying to care for more than one child at a time. I am guilty of doing this quite often. I have 20-month-old triplet cousins, and when Im caring for them and two of the three want to be picked up and you’re trying to get things done I just grab them and swing them up on my hip. I’ve never done it to an infant because you can hurt them, but toddlers are more ‘durable’. It’s a little harder to hurt them but everyone should use caution when doing something like this. So it’s not just a black thing – mothers and care givers of all races are guilty of this.

Asia D.ParticipantI can only respond to my personal experiences. I’m a 21-year-old African American female, and when I’m in a public crowded place and I bump someone, out of respect I turn and say sorry just so the person knows it wasn’t on purpose. It’s rude when someone doesn’t take the extra 5 seconds to turn and apologize. When someone bumps into me I don’t get offended because 99 percent of the time it’s not on purpose, but it’s nice to get the extra reassurance.

Asia D.ParticipantIm from Arizona everyone in Arizona wears sunblock regardless of your skin color. I’ve gotten sun burned and I have dark skin. It doesnt matter what race you are you can still burn and it hurts. You wear the stuff if you care about your skin health. I dont want skin cancer so whenever I leave the house I leave with sunblock on.
