The media is known well for its ability to take words out of context. Many non-media people also have honed their ability to also take words out of context. If you were to look at the Bible verses before the ‘one’ that says, ‘Wives, submit to your husbands,’ you will see that there is a whole passage on mutual submission. Submission is to take place between each other, and then Paul puts it into the family context. Subservience and submission are not synonyms. Submission means placing the other person’s interests before my own. If my wife wants to see the ballet and I want to see a baseball game on TV, I am to willingly sacrifice my interests for her benefit. Submission is an act of the will to willingly give to the other person’s interests. Subservience is a forced service to another.

Having been raised in the Catholic church, I know that the basis of ‘faith’ was tradition and Catholic doctrine. The basis of Biblical faith is the Bible, which points to Christ Jesus alone. Since the Catholic church was the ‘keeper’ of the Book, Catholics believed what the church taught even when there were inconsistencies between Scripture and Catholic doctrine. Most Catholics(not limited to Catholics alone) are unable to see the differences between church practice and what the Scripture teaches. Why was Mary the chosen intercessor? The authorities of that church age carried the concept of intercessor to a new level where Mary was the intercessor to the Intercessor, Christ Jesus.

In my opinion, an amputee (or any challenged person) has the advantage of sorting out the riff-raff before getting to square one. There are guys out there looking for a good-looking, perfect specimen, regardless of personality. Other guys are looking for a woman of character. Often, women of physical beauty and perfection lack good character qualities. If you radiate self-confidence and are friendly, a guy of character will give you full consideration. Any woman would be wise to downplay her physical attributes and find someone who likes her for what she is inside.
