JesseParticipantToo many reasons… most forgotten to history….basically in recent history it boils down to Israel. Israel was created in 1947 as a land for jews. Unfortunately the land had to be taken from someone (despite the fact that many people already living in that area were Jewish, it wasn’t all Jews so some land was confiscated.) After that they successfully fought Muslim nations in 1967 (Yom Kippur war) and on and on and on…..

Matt K.ParticipantThey don’t, as a rule. In fact the Qu’ran speaks quite favorably of Jews in most respects. During the time of the Islamic Kingdoms, Jews had very good protection under the law and were generally treated well. All that changed after the Crusades when European Christians massacred Jews and Muslims en masse. Muslims then adopted a trend of xenophobia that carries onto this day. It has been exacerbated by the Muslim perception that the state of Israel is racist and that the land was stolen from defenseless Muslims (both un-true). This hatred is perpetuated in some Muslim cultures where the csarist forgery, The Protocols of the Elders of Zion, and other lies are still touted as true. For my part I have very many Muslim friends and have had romantic relationships with two Muslim women. The perception that they hate Jews (even in Israel) is a misconception that continues to be bolstered by the selective reporting of the mass media.

Ange19483ParticipantI don’t know the historical reasons, but I think it has a lot to do with the modern state of Israel and its occupation of the Palestinian territories such as the west bank and Jerusalem. The Palestinians are mostly Muslim. Israel has also had several messy but successful wars against their Muslim neighbours, which leads to resentment.

SanauParticipantHey I am a muslim and I don’t hate Jews. Isn’t it a bit narrow minded to ask why muslims hate jews instead of asking why SOME muslims hate jews?, and for those people who hate jews, I think it stems from a lot of politics and the fight for land and all of that.

TomParticipantI’d like to know that, too. They both share the same beginning of their religion as well as recognizing the Old Testament.

MaryamParticipantI am a Muslim convert, and I have learned a lot about Islam since I converted. One of the things that my Muslim brothers and sisters have taught me is that we are to respect Jews and Christians. Jews, Christians and Muslims all believe in the same God and that there is only One God. We believe in the prophet Moses, we believe in Jesus as a prophet, and Mohammad also is a prophet to us. He is our last prophet and we believe that Jesus is going to return also.
