Why do most whites think African Americans have inferiority complexes and are jealous of their looks, when neither the former nor the latter is true?

1)Some black people, in fact, do feel somewhat inferior to whites. YOU may not, and you may have not met anyone who does, or admits they do, but as a black female, I’ve seen this alot in New York City and elsewhere. It only comes out at certain times though. For examply, some black women, or should I say, unfortunatly…still, many black women feel rejected when a black man marries a white woman(or usually any non-black woman). While the reason for this sometimes is because some simply don’t believe in interracial unions. Another reason is that black women have long felt ‘white women get it all’, so to say. Also, Do you not think a major reason many black men treat black women bad, act the way they do and date interracially at the rate they do is because they feel inferior to white men. I know this is a touchy subject and many black men may not wish to admit it. But I KNOW it! Even though I date interracially and see no problem with a black man/woman dating a white man/woman, feelings of inferiority to whites show through when black men feel having a white woman makes them something more than they were and means they have arrived.

It is because of a lot of things. Hair weaves, contacts, dark skin or light skin, good hair, bad hair. what is better? You dont seem to be able to figure any of it out, do not expect us to be able to figure it out. How do you know if the FORMER or LATTER is true. Do you speak for all blacks?

The same reason many Blacks have commented to me that Whites get tans and collagen lip implants because ‘we’ are jealous of Black looks and that apparently much racism can be traced back to that. People are sometimes pretty racially insecure, no matter how much sensitivity training we’ve been fed since we were young. The sharpest insults and loudest arguments are racially-infused and it’s how we often divide ourselves up when push comes to shove. If certain behaviors that can be spun as dominance over another race, it becomes accepted fact to some who search for pride in dominance.

It is whites who are intimidated by us and fear our natural beauty. Why do you think they are running to tanning salons, getting collagen injections in their lips and getting surgically enhanced rear ends, all of which blacks have naturally? They imitate and appropriate our music (hip hop), our language and even our hair styles. We are naturally talented, and whites are intimidated by that. They want what we already have. They are soo proud of their great white hope (Eminem) and have placed him on a pedistal, when they know full well that the best rappers are all black.

Oh,Carla. I think your attempt to proove that whites want to be black, is anger at what we whites tend to adhere to as our standard of beauty. It’s our standard, our business. No one has asked you to buy into it. As far as running to tanning saloons, they do not turn the skin black. Collegin injections do not create black lips. By your thinking white women will next be having nose jobs to create flat, wide noses. If you don’t think that whites are naturally talanted, you really need to get out more. See a broadway show or something cultural, and don’t forget it’s your women who are buying bags of European hair to weave into your scalps. We have our own style and culture and feel no need to copy any one elses.

as a light-skinned euro-american, i must say i have never thought that. in truth, many ‘white’ people i talk to express envy and/or admiration of (what they perceive as) african or african-american looks, be it hair, skin, clothing, style, etc. obviously many ‘white’ people hold a superior attitude towards those around them, and i find this confusing. how boring for all of us to look the same! having pale skin and straight hair is okay, but not intrinsically or automatically appealing to me or to most of my ‘white’ friends. at least within the circles i move in, i have seen a fair number of white people trying to ‘dread’ their hair (with what i feel are often disappointing results). but maybe that’s just the circles i tend to move in.

I can relate to what you’re saying. I was shocked and dismayed when my white ex-boyfriend told me he thought all blacks had a deep desire to be white. I calmly responded that most people (regardless of their ethnicity) are proud of their race and their heritage.

For one thing rap is a horrible form of music that is talentless. Have a rapper try to play an Eddie Van Halen solo or a Randy Rhoades one for that matter. As far as blacks being more talented, I think not. What was the one race that raised the standard of living in the world with their creativity and smarts? Just think about that for a moment. If it weren’t for us so called evil whites, you blacks wouldn’t be living in luxury in a country who is way better to you than any other country in the world. So quit complaining about slavery and what not. You should be thankful that this great White race took you out of the gutter and into this great nation. You should never complain but thank us.

How incredible that you know what most whites think. Do you have a crystal ball? Did you conduct some poll on this? If not then you are demonstrating a facet of racism by using blanket statements. I know many african americans and some are confident with themselves and some are not. Who knows why for either but I’m sure it isn’t always based on just race. Why don’t you conduct a poll on this instead of presuming?

That is so inaccurate. Who’s to say hip-hop was really started by blacks? It was actually a white male. We are not intimidated by you or fear you. We laugh at you because of comments like you just made.

I’ve never really noticed that white women tend to think black women are jealous of their looks, unless it’s the same white women who think other white women are jealous of their looks as well… you know the type… and as for the last response about white’s tanning and putting Eminem on a pedistal, in reality the same could be said vice versa about Michael Jackson who is of black color, but bleached his skin, nad had multiple surgeries to make him look white.

I don’t find your conclusion to be accurate of most white people. (Skipping the inferiroirty, never heard that.) I think (for women) black women are, studies indicate, far more satisfied with their bodies and they don’t feel the need to change anything regardless of size. In a poll that was done on campus’ around America it was found that most (well over 90% of white women) believed they were to fat and would surgically alter one thing or another — black women in the same study group were very happy with themselves just the way they are and wouldn’t surgically alter a feature. I’m not jealous that black women are able to be so much happier with themselves as they are I juse wish that ‘feeling’ and ‘self-esteem’ applied to the majority of women regardless of race.

I am suprised you didn’t refer to us as the white devil. I don’t understand why it’s so important for one race to be better than another, or for one race to accuse another of stealing their physical attributes. I am just blown away to see someone be so ignorant to things right in front of them. Not all black people have big butts, thick lips, or fabulous hairstyles (even though some of the hairstyles have white attributes i.e. blonde/red streaks, straightened, yada-yada) and not everyone wants those. Can you sit there and say that some white women might even be born with some of those attributes? And to say one race is more talented than the other and we (as white people) are jealous? That is atrocious. One race is more ‘naturally talented’ than any other race. I honestly can’t believe anyone had the audacity to say something so blaitently wrong. It’s not the race that makes someone talented its the person. The little comment about eminem or whatever, i think that he is a talented lyricist (and no one can really deny it), and to say that we as a white people put him there? that’s funny i thought it was dre… and to say that we know full well that all the best rappers are black… well no sh*t! Who started the rap game? a black man, who perpetuated it? a black man, and which culture is most involved? the black culture, so no doubt the best rappers out there have been and will be black, there is a bigger black pool of potential rappers than there are white boys wanting to be eminem or paul wall. Check yourself carla, there’s not a whole lot of room for racist people like yourself, we’re all going to be the same eventually, why don’t you just accept it, and move on, white people aren’t that bad you know and we’re probably a whole lot more accepting than you are.
