As a person of Italian heritage who grew up in a very small Midwestern town full of Anglos I would have to say that Italians are (scientifically) correctly classified as caucasians, but sometimes it doesn’t seem like we get looked at or even feel like the standard northern European model so often seen as the norm here in America. Anyone up for the hassle of making a separate distinction for olive-skinned Mediterranean types?
