Whilst the same style for all is not a good thing, having thinning, ratty, frizzy hair that's gray at the roots and overly dyed at the ends isn't either. Conversely I have been harassed by construction workers of all races. I would suggest your experience has more to do with the fact that most construction workers these days are Latino than that non-Latino working class American men have a sudden respect for women. Female equality seems to be a luxury only the more comfortable classes can afford. Incidentally, MOST foreign countries do not have the same kind of anti-sexual harassment laws we do in the states.

The parents here claim that they're too busy working to properly care for their children's educations. That doesn't even take into consideration the huge number of absentee fathers in some poor communities. Until people learn to practice hands-on parenting, which includes not having more kids than you can manage, we will have inner city schools filled with apathetic and disruptive kids. It's so unfair to those poorer kids who really do want an education and really do have the potential to do well.
