I was browsing throught the comments here and read over your comments. I have to comment on this…sorry…I cannot overlook what you mentioned. I really respect you for your honesty about white women or girls. It is quite an accurate portrayal of the sleeping racist conciousness that exists in many white women. Infact, looking down on people of color is really is something that many white women try to hide. I have caught myself subtley snubbing African Americans because of their skin color. I am not playing the victim here, but please don’t attack white women because of our ignorace towards the African American race. Please attack society images of white America being the acceptable race. For example, I grew up watching African Americans on tv shows like ‘Good Times’ as the poor black family struggling in the projects. For me I thought that was what black people were…poor and lived in the projects. In ‘gone with the wind’ black people were slaves. I never saw images of successful black people…I think Whitney Houston was the first successful black person I ever saw. But if you are famous and black you are considered white. TAles of your struggles through black childhood poverty are never talked about. So the media also is to blame for the ignorance of white women – and men for that matter. The media only releases certain information that makes black people look like winners when they are successful. And the losers of society when they are from the projects. Thereby encouraging white Americans to look down and ignore the needs of the African American community. Instead of complaining about the way white women are snobby or date black men for ‘certain’ reasons, why don;t you get out there into the real world and educate these white people. I think it would make a difference and it is better to be proactive and make a difference in theis world rather than sit back and complain about the problems that – everyone knows exist.
