aamMemberI am not a Sikh but a Hindu. To answer your question, Sikhs wear turbans as part of their religious culture. They generally wear a turban when they are going in public places or in front of others. At home, they just put a small cloth around the head , just to cover it. They may not be embarrassed to remove it, but they avoid it in public. There are modern Sikhs who have cut their hair permanently. But it again depends on the thought pattern and culture of a Sikh family.

aamMemberThere are many reasons an East Indian woman has a ‘red dot’ on her forehead, especially those following ‘ Hindu ‘ culture.
1) An unmarried Hindu girl puts a red dot (Bindi) as part of her makeup. Typically on Indian dress and ‘saree,’ it looks beautiful.
2) Many of them put ‘Tikka’ (red dot) on when they do their ‘Puja’ (prayers) as a custom.
3) Married Indian women wear a ‘red dot’ as an indication they are married. Many times this red dot is made of ‘processed termeric’ called ‘kunkum.’ But nowadays, many artificial Bindi are available. Also, the ‘dot’ is often replaced by different shapes that suit the choice of the wearer.

While most north Indians are Aryans, as we go farther south, the race becomes ‘Dravids.’ Hence, we see different physical differences. Even though many East Indians want to be be on the “white side,” I don’t understand why the world is so obsessed with white skin and blue eyes. I guess the answer is that everybody wants to go with the winner. Today, no doubt, the United States and Europe are the most developed populations in the world. But perhaps our Indian brothers and sisters should also revisit history and archeology and unlearn what’s been taught to them. When the West was still in the Stone Age, the Indian subcontinent was the most advanced civilization. It had large universities and was spirituallay advanced. They even had airplanes and space-dwelling vehicles (if you need references or proof, I would be happy to provide it).
But I guess it’s not practical to hold onto past glory. Frankly, I pride myself on being ‘Indian’ and pity those pretending to be ‘white.’ Perhaps it is time for you to revisit history textbooks and search the Internet for the origin of present-world civilization.
