I read about a study showing that a culture’s idea of beauty is a composite face created by the features of all the people an infant sees in its first year or two. When computers are used to take the average of many facial features, the resulting face appears beautiful to us. Strangely enough, the most “beautiful” people are objectively the ones with the fewest unique, distinctive differences.
