Being from the South I had never eaten rice without sugar until I moved up North. My first taste of fried rice hooked me for life. It was bought at the corner rice house, where most African Americans buy and prefer. Restaurant-style Chinese food is great, too, but the average fried-rice lover gets it off the corner, which is why some people disagree that there is a love of Chinese food in the black community.
