In the past and still in some cases, Italians have been the target of racial inequality. When my people came to this country, they were treated in some cases like Black people were treated calling them the N- word and the like! I believe Italians in general are not a White race, and in the same respect not Black? We have our own identity. my great grandfather on his papers upon arriving in America says color(dark). I guess White was the in thing at that time? As an Italian American, I think it is wrong to hate someone for the color of their skin, but there are certain traits that need to be addressed. Yes their are some Italians and Italian Americans that hate African Americans, but you can not put blame the whole bunch! There are some African Americans that hate Italian Americans also? I feel it is wrong to hate anybody as a whole race! There are four reasons to be addressed. 1-There are some Italians and Italian Americans that hate African Americans,(which is wrong for hating all!) 2-They have had in the past or present, one or more bad experiences as I have had with African Americans,(Which is wrong for hating all!) 3-Italians and Italian Americans have a deep family history, that intermixing marriges are strongly not advised, because of our culture and customs, it is a matter of preferance and in some cases have conflict of interest with African Americans,(visa versa). I haven't any trouble with Italians or Italian Americans Intermarrying with Africans or African Americans, but I myself prefer the former than the latter, for cultural identity and conflict of interest issues.

Italians were treated unfairly when they first came to America, and did not speak English like the established groups of the time.Black people were already here for two centuries and all though they spoke English, they were treated very unfairly due to slavery and unequality. Many of us have a dark complextion. At that time being White was the in thing? They treated much of us as if we were Black. We really didn't know what a Black person was and never saw one in Italy.Italian Americans, many have strong family ties and are cautious when mixing with Afro Americans and Other Races alike for fear of intermarrige and loosing there ethnicity. We were from a European Country, and now American, but still keep within our Italian culture and customs which conflict with many Afro American Interests,(visa versa). Hate Breeds hate and tears at the souls of all who hate! With love we all could destroy hate and GOD willing, they who are bred with hate could learn to love from those bred with love? ultimatly in the end we will all be judged right or wrong for what is truly in our hearts.
