Evangelicals are generally recognized as Born-Again christians who put a strong emphasis on a personal relationship with God, marked by: a continued (regularly, if not daily) commitment to the Bible, belief that the Bible is inerrant (without error), belief that testifying and witnessing to others about their faith is important and an overall sincerity and stong devotion to their maturing faith. Clearly this is a broad definition that many christians of many denominations fit into (Presybterian included). The Presbysterian church (in general) is a liturgical denomination. Focusing on certain set rites and traditions in their worship service (set number of hymms and prayers in a specific order, among other things). Most evangelical churches do not rely on a strict adherance to tradition and liturgy like the Presbyterian church does. Of course there are exceptions and varying degrees to everything I have mentioned.

The word covet has more in common with the word envy, which bears with it resentment. Jealousy means that you require the complete devotion of someone else. In God’s case it is justified. It also would be justified of a husband or wife whose spouse is cheating. If a man, Bob, hates another man, John, because he wishes to have John’s wife, he is coveting. If Bob is acting jealous becasue his wife is sleeping with another man, it is is right to feel that way. God too, has a right to demand our devotion to Him and no other god.
