SheilaParticipantYes, black people do get dandruff. I don’t know if it is with the same frequency as white people, but I do know it is pretty much the same. Dandruff on black people usually consists of whitish flakes.

SheilaParticipantI want to start off by saying that you should be proud of your race whatever that may be. Today, in American society, there is a popular attitude that ‘white culture’ is uncool and ‘black culture’ is cool. I think that this way of thinking is wrong and that no one culture is better than another. However, the reason that channels like BET, Telemundo, etc. exist is because people of color are underrepresented in movies/television, or they are not represented positively. The reason that there is no white channel is that most TV shows on most channels have all or nearly all white casts. There may be a token black or latino character mixed in, but generally everyone is white. Asian characters are even harder to find. Things are pretty much the same behind the camera if not worse. Shows like Friends and Seinfeld are examples of this. Also, it wasn’t that long ago that the only time people of color were on TV is if they were playing servants or criminals. These channels were created to give minorities positive role models on TV. They are also there to give black and latino directors, producers, etc. a chance to work. Even though there is more tolerence and understanding now, there is still a lot of racism out there, and the entertainment industry is no exception. Perhaps you should watch network television and count the minorities you see not playing servants or criminals to get an idea of the progress that still needs to be made.
