I too wondered this, and have since discovered that at many raves, drugs are rampant. One of the most popular is a drug called Ecstasy (or E, or X). It causes people to ‘grind,’ i.e. grind their teeth, which sometimes can make them bite their tongues, or do damage to their mouths. The easiest way to avoid this is to suck on something. Sometimes you see people with lollipops, or gum, but many use pacifiers, and it has since become a trend – so that many people not on drugs now suck on the pacifiers.
