Sarah R.MemberSince you are aware of your feelings about women – though it sounds like you haven’t acted on them – I would say that you get to decide if you are a lesbian! Coming out to yourself and then to others is a long process. It involves changing your perception of yourself and becoming comfortable with a lesbian identity. There are many women who are in relationships with other women who just don’t feel comfortable with calling themselves lesbians, and that’s OK. As you continue to explore your feelings and perhaps begin talking to others about them or even acting on them, you are engaging in the coming out process and will eventually have a better sense for yourself of whether you are a lesbian or not.

Sarah R.MemberMany women who later identify as Lesbians have been married at some point. Since I have known I was gay since I was in H.S. I can’t speak very well to that part of your experience. The only thing I would say is be very careful about acting on your feelings. I don’t think you should bank on the idea that a one-tme experience will satisfy your curiosity it will probably just end up making things messy and painful for all involved. Good luck with your journey. It can be difficult and painful to figure out sexuality questions when you are already involved with someone. You have a lot of courage to be so honest and open about yourself!
