I too am confused by self segregating award shows, be it black, hispanic, country, hip-hop, r&b / soul, whatever. I find that in an attempt to give awards to a select group, based on ethnicity or musical preference, it further fuels racist attitudes. I mention music as a form of segregation as well due to the fact that most music stores have divided their musical genres by race, aside from classical and jazz. Next time you visit a music store, see for yourself…
