    Don’t confuse EOE with job requirements. After all, if I was deaf, I wouldn’t be a very effective music producer. Or if I was color-blind, I couldn’t do a very good job working at a factory assembling circuit boards with colored wires. Simple fact of life and common sense, really. Equal Opportunity means that each person with the required skills for the job get a fair chance regardless of RACE, COLOR, CREED, AGE, or RELIGIOUS BELIEFS. ‘Number of Languages Spoken’ or ‘Hair Color’ are not protected under EOE; therefore, an employer CAN base hiring decisions on them. The language requirement also depends on the geographic area in which you live, or the specific job in question.
