RobMemberHurricane is loosely based on the premise that a black boxer was put in jail by a racist cop and an all-white jury when in fact he was found guilty by two juries where there were black jurors present. The movie shows an all-white jury, which was false. The ‘racist’ cop was also falsely portrayed as a racist when he was not. One thing the movie never showed: He was never found innocent; he was released on a technicality. What I am saying is that all white people aren’t racist. People get influenced by movies, whether they admit it or not, and by portraying white cops as racist or saying that an all-white jury is bad, trust between blacks and whites is diminished. I believe racism is a generational thing, and if the hate is handed down from the parent, then racism will never go away. I don’t see racism because I refuse to accept it in my life and do not see black or white when making my decisions day to day. I am not naive and realize there are hateful people on both sides and wish they could look at a person’s character rather than the color of their skin.

RobMemberYou aren’t the only one who feels this way, but you have to remembaer that it’s OK to show white people as racist thugs – at least this is what is portrayed in the mainstream media. It seems that every time race relations seem to be going great, a movie like ‘Mississippi Burning’ (great movie) is created, then ‘Hurricane,’ then ‘The Green Mile,’ etc. The thought of judging people on what race they are hasn’t even crossed my mind, and I find it offensive when movies show the opposite. Police officers are always portrayed as white men who harass blacks, when there are tens of thousands of black cops, too. I plead to those in the mainstream who really want race relations to be positive to perhaps show how races can get along and help one another.

RobMemberI believe that attractivness is subjective and shouldn’t have to be explained. I’m attracted to the person, not what shade they happen to be. I’ve gone out with dark-skinned people (whatever that means) and light-skinned people. I don’t really care for overly tanned blonds and actually find this to be a bit goofy. Having almost white hair and a dark-brown body to me is a bit too contrasting.
There is a stereotype that a lot of women like to spout that men are attracted only to tall, large-breasted women. That may be true for a lot of men, but my wife is 5’4″ with red hair and a pale complexion with freckles. I find that totally beautiful.

RobMemberMaybe some people like a nice-looking lawn and use this as their hobby. The better house you have, the more money you can get for it. I wouldn’t want to live next to a house who occupants didn’t like to keep the weeds down. I speak from experience. My one neighbor is completly crazy about his lawn, with hundreds of flowers and a pretty big garden. On the other hand, the other neighbor lets his grass grow about six inches before they cut it. It looks terrible. I wouldn’t yell at them, but it does make my house look bad.

RobMemberIn a country that is majority white or other light-skinned ethnic groups, I don’t see your point. Should there be 50/50 black commercials and white commercials? Isn’t that taking away from other minorities, as well as whites?
By the way, there is a Pizza Hut commercial that is all black, and a large amount of Fox Network shows are primarily black. Where are the Asian sitcoms? Isn’t it fair that they have their equal time?
I believe we should just look at a particular show and decide whether it is good or bad, not if it’s black or white. Same with the advertisements. I’m still going to go to Pizza Hut…

RobMemberI believe you were being too sensitive and shouldn’t be too bothered by what people say. Society today dwells on such insignificant problems such as this and never focuses on what the big picture is. My family members are of German descent and are asked quite a bit to bring German food to events. Should I overreact and tell them they are being racist? You should be honored that someone thinks you are involved in your culture so much as to eat the stereotypical foods and act as your ancesters did.

RobMemberI’ve noticed this also, and it is a bit humiliating to our generation. It seems that if you hurt someone’s feelings, then no matter what you did to cause this, you are considered wrong or just plain mean. I wish people would contact their local spine donors and have the operation as soon as possible. Am I wrong?
