To African American sistas, please note the following: HIV/AIDS is the NUMBER ONE killer of Black women between the ages of 25 and 34, and NUMBER FOUR between the ages of 20 and 45. In 2003, Black women accounted for a staggering 68% of new HIV infection cases. For every ONE white woman diagnosed with HIV/AIDS, TWENTY THREE Black woman were diagnosed. Black women are 13 times more likely to succumb to HIV/AIDS than white women, because many cannot afford the expensive drugs used to prolong life. Clamydia is on the increase among Black women, and gonorrhea and syphillis, considered ‘old school’ STD’s is on the increase among Black women between the ages of 18 and 35. Check the Center For Disease Control website; the stats are there, and they tell a sad story about us…that we, as Black women, are NOT taking responsibility for our own sexual health. Insist your partners wear condoms during EVERY sexual encounter, whether oral sex or intercourse. Purchase and USE a dental dam for use during oral sex. I’ll conclude with this: I don’t know if all these men you ladies are going down on value you, your health, and your lives, but please do not put your health, your ability to bear children, and your lives at risk to satisfy the whims of these men. So protect yourselves, please.
