PilarMemberI don’t get offended by a close hug. I think it depends on the woman. But I have also noticed something that has to do with culture or upbringing: In every picture of my Caucasian friend with her arm around a guy, her arm is around him, but the rest of her body is sticking out, not touching his at all. I tease her and call it, ‘The White Girl hug.’ I don’t think it’s all Caucasians, though, just the way you were raised. In my culture, when you greet someone, you kiss them on the cheek and give them a hug. It’s just like a hand shake and doesn’t mean anything else. I was taught that closeness was a way of being polite, and I’ve always done it without thinking.
