From what I understand of Christianity, the end goal of God is to have a personal relationship with humans. Communication, specifically here, prayer, is a means of achieving that. God makes no mistakes, but He has chosen to base his decisions on our motivations, lifestyle, what we ask of him, etc. In other words, God is consistent but will make differing choices as we change. Second, you must draw a distinction between God’s knowledge and the excercising of his own volition. Thus, God may know what all men will someday do, but only because he can be a observer throughout all time of men acting out their volition.
