Michael20671ParticipantI remember, back when I was young, not understanding why God said, ‘They shall become like us,’ when Adam and Eve bit into the apple. I came up with an explanation that I accepted, but near the end of my sophomore year of high school, I started reading Isaac Asimov on the Bible (being a big fan of his fiction, and a Christian, I thought: two things I love!). It addressed the view that, though this plural nature of God is often cited as evidence for the Trinity, it’s more likely a remnant from polytheistic forerunners of Judaism, from which Christianity sprang. This seemed a much better explanation, and that caused me to question my faith. By the beginning of my junior year, I had rejected Christianity.
