    I don’t really think that if you are visiting Switzerland you’re going to learn German, especially not Swiss German. You don’t have to do the same things in a foreign country as the inhabitants do. Of course, you have to respect their customs, sometimes because of religious reasons. Every time I travel to the United States, I recognize that some Americans are not very helpful if you don’t speak the language. But I have to respect that. English is the national language, so either I speak English or I am lucky and I find someone who is patient enough to explain it to me.

    On the other hand, as an immigrant, you should at least learn the language. That is a favor for themselves and also for the inhabitants. In addition, my opinion is that everybody has the right to continue his or her own culture, as long as it is not something illegal, such as female circumcision or eating dogs, and things like that.
