Liz22550ParticipantIf someone can logically make that connection, I’d love to hear their reasoning. My guess is that it’s strictly more of a macho thing, to prove your masculinity or whatever, in combination with the fact that there is less of a social stigma involved in that community than perhaps in others. Many African-American households are led by single mothers, so I guess it stands to reason that if you were brought up in that situation, it would not seem deviant at all to continue the cycle. Missing/absent fathers is a sociological phenomena present is several ethnic groups. Irish-American families come to mind, although having children all over the place (especially if you can’t support them) is tacky no matter who does it.
