Lady-JParticipantI’ve studied many organized religions, systems of spirituality, and even an obscure cult-like doctrine(that was quite an experience!). I have found that there are many, many paths to enlightenment. Some people need religion to make sense of life and to understand their purpose in life. Some people walk away from religion feeling even more confused about life and who they really are. If you fall into the first category then, my advice to you is that you first, examine why it is that you believe in the existence of a heaven and hell then begin to explore what other cultures have to say about those subjects (if anything at all!). All spiritual systems have threads of commonality. Find them, scrutinize them, and create your own path. Whatever, you do, please do not succumb to the disease of self-righteousness that plagues most religious folks. People differ on the scale of spiritual evolution and hence adhere to different spiritual paths. If you fall into the second category then, my advice to you is to stop looking outside yourself for answers to things that mystify or confound you. You already know the answers you just have to access the part of you that has that knowledge. I suggest that you study different forms of meditation and spend time in natural environments.
